Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) is a private rural for-profit institute of higher education established in 2004 located in the city of Ar Rayyan, Qatar. The co-educational university caters to both national and international students with undergraduate programs accredited in the United States (Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business).
Carnegie Mellon University - Qatar is situated in Education City, close to Weill Cornell Medical College and Texas A&M University, and is situated in close proximity to Al Dana Gardens and Doha Racing Club. The 50 thousand square meters (540 thousand square feet) academic building has sports (indoor and outdoor), laboratory, and library facilities. Its standard academic year comprises of the fall (August) and spring (January) semesters, while it has one summer session (May).
