The American University in Dubai (AUD) is a private urban institution of higher education founded in 1995 that is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The coed university caters to both national and international students with undergraduate and graduate programs accredited in both the US (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools) and the UAE (Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research).
The American University in Dubai is situated along Sheikh Zayed Road, in close proximity to the Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Mall of the Emirates, the Palm Jumeirah, and the Dubai Knowledge Village. Its campus covers an area of approximately 1.3 million square feet (121 thousand square meters), with sports and library facilities. Its standard academic year comprises the fall (September-December) and spring (January-April) semesters, while it has two summer sessions (May and July). It offers its full-time students on-campus student housing as well as student resident visas.
AUD is licensed by the District of Columbia Education Licensure Commission in Washington, DC and approved to operate by the State of Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission (NPEC). Its business administration degree programs are accredited by the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) and its engineering degree programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). It also has accreditation by the International Advertising Association (IAA) for its undergraduate concentrations in Marketing Communications and Advertising (Creative).
The American University in Dubai’s administration building contains administration offices, 1.1 thousand square meter library, and 900-seat auditorium, in addition to three academic buildings for arts, business and science. Its student center covers 13 thousand square meters and has a cafeteria, kitchens, dining areas, indoor football field, squash courts, locker rooms, barbershop, beauty salon, travel agency, bank, copy center, bookstore, supermarket, food court, halls, meeting room, gymnasiums, labs, storage room, offices, stores, and conference room. AUD has on-campus faculty and student housing, outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, and a sports field.
