The British University in Dubai (BUiD) is a private rural institute of higher education established in 2004 which is located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). The coed research-based university caters to both national and international students with postgraduate programs accredited in the United Kingdom (through partner universities) and the UAE (UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research).
The British University in Dubai is located in the Dubai Knowledge Village (Block 14), which is situated in close proximity to the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City, Dubai Marina and Mall of the Emirates. Its standard academic year comprises of autumn (August) and spring (February) semesters, each of whom last for 3 or 4 months. BuiD’s Student Services can assist international student with visas and accommodations.
The university’s masters degree programs normally last for one (full-time) or two (part-time) years and are provided with partnership with internationally recognized British institutions, including University of Edinburgh, the University of Manchester, the University of Birmingham, Cardiff University and the Cass Business School of City University, London. Founders of the university include Al Maktoum Foundation, Dubai Development and Investment Authority, the National Bank of Dubai, the British Business Group, and Rolls Royce.
